Feed and grain silos

Our company specializes in feed silos and grain silos, including hopper silos and flat-bottomed silos.

Feed silos

This silo is most often chosen for storing fodder for poultry, pigs and cattle. Such a silo is erected without a building permit, only a construction notification is required (up to 7m high). It is made of corrugated sheet, which significantly stiffens the structure of the tank and ensures resistance to dents.
As standard, this silo is equipped with a 100 mm pipe for loading through the feed wagon, which is connected to the silo through a universal hydrant terminal. We use cast iron elbows with a 4 mm wall, so there is no possibility of chafing the pipe. The hydrant connector is attached to the pipe with a thread.
Deaeration takes place by means of a venting pipe with a diameter of 150 mm. There is a bag holder at the end of this tube to reduce dusting during loading. Our silos have a hopper angle of 60 degrees, which prevents the feed from hanging.

Grain silos - hopper

This silo is used for long-term storage of various grains as well as corn and rape. Thanks to the hopper, the silo is unloaded automatically, without the need to scrub the grain tip from the floor. This type of tank is almost twice as expensive as a flat-bottomed silo. However, today most of the silos sold are hopper silos. There is a system of ventilation pipes in the funnel that enables the grain to be blown through with a blower. Corrugated sheet provides resistance to dents and strengthens the entire structure. The corrugation of the sheet causes reflection of the sun's rays, lowering the temperature in the tank. The funnel has an angle of 45 degrees, which makes it easy to empty the silo. The silo legs are made of Omega profiles and the strongest S350 sheets. The M8 and M10 flange bolts have a special SealerPlus coating which makes them twice as resistant to rust.

Grain silos - flat-bottomed

This silo is used for long-term storage of various grains as well as corn and rape. This is the best solution for farms that fill the tank a maximum of several times a year. This tank is twice cheaper than a hopper silo. The downside is the need to scrub the grain tip onto the unloading conveyor. Mounting the selector from the floor is uneconomical. It is better to buy a hopper silo right away. The grain is ventilated in the silo through ventilation ducts located in the concrete floor. These channels are easy to disassemble and clean, making it easy to keep clean. This is the solution used in large grain elevators. Corrugated sheet provides resistance to dents and strengthens the entire structure. The corrugation of the sheet causes reflection of the sun's rays, lowering the temperature in the tank.

Grain silos

The silos are made of Ruukki’s most expensive and best-quality sheet metal. The walls of the silo are wavy, thanks to which we increase the strength of the structure. Corrugated sheet ensures resistance to dents and the possibility of fixing the structure, e.g. a bucket conveyor, directly to the silo. Compared to flat sheets, we use 15% more material per meter of tank height. This increases the strength of the silo jacket by a factor of 3 and reflects the sun’s rays, reducing the temperature inside the tank. The hopper of the hopper has an angle of 45 degrees, thanks to which the grain flows perfectly and the hopper is emptied evenly. In the funnel of the grain silo, there are perforated ventilation ducts connected to the outside with a flexible 160 mm pipe, to which the blower is connected.

The legs are made of Omega profiles with six folds (instead of the traditional 4). They are made of S350 sheets with 20% more strength than traditional sheets. We are the only ones who use additional sealing of sheets and screws with silicone masses to keep the silo tight even after 20 years of use. We use screws with a SealerPlus coating, which are 2 times more resistant to rust. Only the use of such a coating increases the strength in the salt spray chamber. Thicker galvanizing is impossible due to the fact that the thread is filled with zinc. The bolts for screwing the grain silos have a flange that perfectly matches the surface of the sheet. We use M8 and M10 screws and a hardness of 8.8. Our silos withstand the most extreme temperatures thanks to the plasticity of the sheet and adapt to changing conditions.

Feed silos

We have been producing feed silos since 1997, constantly improving our product. During this time, we have gained extensive experience in the field of feed silos, thanks to which today we can offer a product of the highest quality. The silos are equipped with an oblique loading pipe, which is our company’s patent. This allows the silo to be filled in the shortest possible way, significantly accelerating the loading and unloading process. Our silos are made of RUUKKI corrugated sheets. The use of corrugated sheets means that we use 15% more sheet per meter of silo height, which increases the strength of the silo by three times. What’s more, the corrugation of the sheets reflects the sun’s rays, significantly reducing the temperature in the silo. Our silos are prepared to work in the most extreme conditions, they withstand frosty temperatures of up to -30 degrees, as well as unnaturally hot temperatures of +70 degrees.

Cross-bars strengthen the stability of the entire structure, and the hopper with a 60-degree inclination prevents suspending of highly greased feed. The silo is equipped with a charging pipe with 4mm thick cast iron elbows. They prevent chafing as a result of frequent loading of the fodder, and the 110mm thread ensures a stable fastening of the quick coupler. The 160mm pipe ensures optimal air circulation in the silo.

WHY OUR SILOS?

1.

Corrugated sheet increases the strength of the silo

The corrugation of the sheet increases the consumption of material needed for the silo walls by 15%, however, it increases the stiffness of the structure and the strength of the silo by 3 times.

2.

The best quality RUUKKI sheets

We use the best and most expensive galvanized sheets available on the market. These sheets are used in the production of the best brands of Audi, VW and Porsche cars.

3.

The cheapest loading / unloading system

It allows you to fill the silo through a pipe mounted inside the tank with the Turbotube. This is a solution patented by AGOS.

4.

Lowering the temperature in the silo

Corrugated sheet “reflexSUN” reflects the sun’s rays, lowering the temperature in the silo, preventing the so-called boiling the feed. Thanks to the lower temperature, the feed does not lose valuable vitamins and microelements.

5.

Increased resistance to dents

The deep “maxWave” wave increases the resistance of the sheet to dents by 20%, and at the same time is not deep enough to allow for hanging feed.

6.

Extremely durable

Ruukki’s sheet metal silos are suitable for use in extreme temperatures of +70 / – 30, unlike fiberglass silos, which do not withstand negative temperatures.
